RASNOV
Râșnov Fortress is a historic monument and landmark in Romania. It is situated in Râşnov, Brașov County, in the immediate vicinity of Brașov. The citadel was built as part of a defence system for the Transylvanian villages exposed to outside invasions. It was built around the year 1215 by the Teutonic Knights and it was first attested in 1331. Due to its positioning, it was conquered only once in its history (around the year 1600) by Gabriel Báthory. Moreover, Râșnov Fortress and its surroundings were used in 2002 during the shooting of several scenes from the American film Cold Mountain.
